On September 8, Guangdong Yangjiang Maritime Police Bureau informed the public that it seized a frozen cargo ship suspected of smuggling in the waters near Yangjiang on August 30, seized 29 standard frozen containers, and 13 persons involved in the case. The ship was loaded with suspected smuggling. The frozen products are about 700 tons, and the case value is about 60 million yuan.
At 15:30 on August 30, the Yangjiang Maritime Police received a report that a suspicious cargo ship was found sailing westward in the waters near Yangjiang, Guangdong. After preliminary research and judgment, the Yangjiang Maritime Police Bureau immediately organized a capable law enforcement force to search the target sea area. Due to the bad sea conditions, the suspected vessel tried to use complex sea conditions to evade inspection. The maritime police law enforcement vessel used technical means to lock the target vessel and pursued it for 3 hours continuously. At about 18:30 that night, the suspected cargo vessel was successfully intercepted.
After boarding and inspection, the ship did not have any valid legal documents. The ship was loaded with a batch of frozen meat from abroad. The frozen products had no valid legal source certificate and had not been inspected and quarantined. It was suspected of smuggling prohibited import and export goods.
It is understood that some of the frozen meat products from the epidemic area have been out of the cold chain for a long time during the transportation process, and have been thawed and spoiled. It is currently on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. Once such seasonal products enter the market , Will pose a serious threat to the lives and health of the people. This operation is a major result of the Yangjiang Maritime Police Bureau's in-depth implementation of the "Guomen Sword 2021" special operation. It is the suspected case of frozen goods smuggling with the largest amount of frozen products and a larger case value since the establishment of the bureau.
At present, all the frozen products involved in the case have been seized, and the cargo and personnel have been tested negative for the new coronavirus nucleic acid. The next step of the case will be jointly investigated by the Yangjiang Maritime Police Bureau and the Yangjiang City Public Security Bureau.
