Recently, according to the latest data of Alphaliner's top 30 container ports in the world, Shanghai Port leads its closest competitor by 10 million TEU.

In the past 14 years, Shanghai Port has been the largest container port in the world. In 2023, the throughput of more than 49.1 million TEU continued to lead, followed by Singapore and Ningbo Zhoushan Port.

It is worth mentioning that if the throughput can increase by about 2% this year, Shanghai Port will become the world's first milestone port with an annual throughput of more than 50 million TEU.

Qingdao Port is the fastest growing port among the major ports in the world.

Alphaliner wrote, "China's ports have experienced another year of strong growth, and Qingdao Port is the world's fastest-growing major port.

Dubai/Jebe Ali Port, the largest container port in the Middle East, is back in the top 10, surpassing the two closest competitors, Hong Kong and Rotterdam. This is also the first time that Hong Kong has fallen out of the top 10 container ports in the world.

Alphaliner said, "Dubai/Jebe Ali Port surpassed the two closest competitors in 2023, ranking in the top 10, which previously occupied this position in 2018.

Dutch ports have been hit by almost all the losses of Russian goods and the sharp decline in European consumer demand.

Port New York and Port of New Jersey were the biggest losers in 2023, with throughput falling by 17.7% to 7.8 million TEU.
