Recently, Hapag-Lloyd (HPL) announced adjustments to freight rates on routes from Asia and Oceania to Africa.
For 20-foot and 40-foot dry cargo containers and refrigerated containers (including high cube equipment) transported from Asia and Oceania to West Africa, South Africa, and East Africa, the freight for each container will increase by 500 US dollars.
Hapag-Lloyd stated that this rate increase applies to all containers loaded on board from January 1, 2026, and remains in effect until further notice.

The price for each standard container (TEU) has been increased by $500. This applies to 20-foot, 40-foot and high-capacity containers, including dry cargo containers, refrigerated containers and special containers.

Asia and Oceania: Vanuatu, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Micronesia, New Caledonia, Niue, French Polynesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna Islands.
