The latest update indicates that Evergreen Marine Corporation has announced the initiation of general average proceedings for its container vessel "Ever Lenient" (IMO 9604146). The vessel experienced a fire during its call at the Port of Singapore on April 10th, which was extinguished the following day.

Key points of Evergreen's statement:
The fire broke out during the operation at the wharf. The special measures and expenses taken for extinguishing the fire and providing assistance to avoid the common danger meet the conditions of general average.
It is required that the relevant interested parties of the cargo/containers on board (such as the cargo owners, bill of lading holders, etc.) provide the necessary general average security, including any additional security that may be required.
The goods may not be picked up normally before the guarantee is provided.
Currently, Evergreen Shipping has appointed Sedgwick Global Specialty as the joint salvage adjustor, responsible for collecting relevant guarantees and documents.

Ever Lenient operates on the China-India Express Service 5 (CIX5) route. Before the incident, it had called at ports such as Shanghai, Ningbo and Shenzhen in China. Therefore, it may have involved a large number of goods that were shipped from these ports.
Please note to all shippers and freight forwarders: Keep track of the price trends of each shipping route. Before shipping, please check the latest shipping schedules and price information and make a detailed shipping plan in advance.
