Recently, many shipping companies issued notices to strengthen the control of dangerous goods.
The PIL notice stated:
1. Starting from July 1, 2021, the fine will be adjusted from the original USD15000/unit to USD30000/unit.
2. For the booking/transportation of dangerous goods, the booking customer must proactively declare to our company and provide corresponding documents and certifications as required.
The consequences and losses caused by concealed reporting, misreporting, or under-reporting by the booking customer shall be borne by the booking customer and the booking customer shall be charged a penalty of USD30000/unit.
In addition, HMM and KMTC have issued relevant notices:
HMM
Starting from June 21, 2021, all shipments with lithium battery product names will not be accepted
KMTC
With immediate effect, products containing lithium batteries will stop accepting bookings
For dangerous goods, many shipping companies have also issued announcements before.
From November 15, 2020, Hapag-Lloyd will charge USD 15,000 per container for deliberately under-reporting or misreporting dangerous goods worldwide.
HPL Notice: Misreporting Fee for Dangerous Goods
In order to ensure the safety of our crews, ships and customers’ cargo, please note that we will charge USD 1,5000.00 per container worldwide for dangerous goods that are deliberately under-reported or misreported, effective from November 15, 2020 .
Hapag-Lloyd believes that the shipper is responsible and bears responsibility for all costs and consequences arising from violations, fines, damages, accident claims and corrective measures caused by undeclared or incorrectly declared dangerous goods.
This fee is only applicable to the implementation of dangerous goods that are deliberately not declared or incorrectly declared.
Earlier, many shipping companies, including ONE, Maersk, and MSC, have issued penalties for under-reporting, misreporting, and misreporting dangerous goods, and they have come into effect. If you violate the regulations, you can be fined up to 30,000 US dollars per box, which is about 200,000 yuan.
